About the Isles of Scilly

Isles of Scilly Holidays Isles of Scilly Holidays

Located 28 miles south-west of Land’s End, the Isles of Scilly form England’s only archipelago comprising of around 200 islands set in sparkling, azure seas and fringed with white sandy beaches and rugged coastlines.

Just six of these unspoilt islands are inhabited: St Mary’s, Bryher, Tresco, St Martin’s, St Agnes and Gugh, with a combined population of around 2000 people, and their geographic location provides them with the most temperate climate in the British Isles.

The Isles of Scilly are quite simply a haven of natural beauty and tranquility offering empty beaches and open spaces for those who wish to unwind in peace. Regular boat trips also run between all of the islands giving you the opportunity for spotting birds, seals and other island wildlife or you can hire your own boat for fishing.

The islands are ideal for walkers and ramblers of all ages where you can explore historic landscapes dotted with Bronze Age tombs, ancient ruins and castles and walk through acres of heathland covered in heather. Walkers can find refreshment in the island’s pubs, cafes and restaurants and on some of the islands you are able to hire bicycles or enjoy a round of golf on St Mary’s nine-hole course.

We have chosen accommodation on Tresco, the second largest island, and on Bryher which is about one and half miles long and less than three-quarters of a mile wide at its widest point.

Travel to St Mary’s is by air from Bristol and Southampton (March to September) or from Exeter, Land’s End and Newquay (Year Round) with Skybus, the island’s own airline and by helicopter from Penzance to St Mary’s or Tresco (Year Round) or by sea from Penzance (March to October) on-board Scillonian III. Onward travel to Bryher and Tresco, from St Mary’s, is by small boat although a year round helicopter service does operate directly to Tresco.
